Created In His Image

Created In His Image

There are countless Bible stories of heroes who did something monumental in their cultures and times. Long before Jesus was born, there were prophets, kings, spiritual leaders, and average people who submitted to God. As we look through the scriptures, we notice that God often mightily used average people to cause major shifts in the Bible. Often, Christians see themselves as unimportant and do not believe that God can use them mightily.
“God said, “Let the earth produce every kind of living thing: livestock, crawling things, and wildlife.” And that’s what happened. God made every kind of wildlife, every kind of livestock, and every kind of creature that crawls on the ground. God saw how good it was. Then God said, “Let us make humanity in our image to resemble us so that they may take charge of the fish of the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the earth, and all the crawling things on earth." God created humanity in God’s own image, in the divine image God created them, male and female God created them” Genesis 1:24-27
The book of Genesis tells us that God created humans in His own image. He formed Adam from the dust of the earth and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils. Humans were the head of God’s physical creation and were designed to rule over it. Of all the creatures that God created, only humankind was made in His image and likeness. Throughout the Bible, the relationship between God and humanity is represented as that of a father to his child. Children usually have a strong resemblance to their parents. Just as children resemble their parents, all humans resemble the Creator in one way or another. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are godly attributes, and as God’s creations, we are to have them as well. We may not be perfect, or ever reach perfection, but that doesn’t mean that God can’t use us.

Do you think you can't be used? Many of today’s greatest ministry leaders come from backgrounds of sin and darkness. Countless times in the Bible, God chose to use someone who was completely unqualified to complete a task, lead people, or preach. Never disqualify yourself from being an impactful leader because of something you did in the past or your upbringing. We are constantly growing, learning, and developing. Who you are today is not who you were a few years ago, and nothing can compare to who you will be in the future if you set the right goals and stay focused. If you are a Christian, then you should believe everything the Bible says—including who the Bible says you were created to be!
